HE COULDA BEEN SOMEBODY

T
Tom O'Rourke as Trask in the TV sitcom WORKING GIRL

VARIETY REVIEW: "One of the cast members with the most potential appears to be Tom O'Rourke as a powerhouse Donald Trump like character who gets to deliver some of the funniest lines." Turned out his potential got sidetracked by sex.

The lines below are from the movie ON THE WATERFRONT when Brando is angry at his brother for taking a big bribe so that the Brando character, about to fight in a big, important boxing match, will take a dive and deliberately lose for a payoff.

"You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, ..."

In the movie, it's the one brother selling out the other. Yes, both the Brando character and Tom O'Rourke, my actor husband, coulda been contenders, if not for somebody selling them out. In Tom's case, it was the voice in his head from his childhood, probably his father, crushing his hopes and dreams, and destroying his confidence in himself, rather than encouraging and believing in him.

Sandra Bullock and Tom O'Rourke in WORKING GIRL

Tom got the job every actor would die for, the big boss Trask in the nighttime TV sitcom WORKING GIRL, based on the movie of the same name, co-starring talented newcomer Sandra Bullock. He even had the also starring card at the end of the crawl. But he was too busy making time in the dressing rooms, instead of using this golden opportunity to make the new friends and important contacts his real acting talent had earned him the chance to meet. So it all came to nothing. He coulda been somebody.

Tom compromised his talent, himself, his honor, his marriage, his wife and his career by giving in to a compulsion to play around with willing females when he was at work. He needed it, for reasons that he revealed to me after he passed over. I never suspected a thing when he was alive. He was always home for dinner and seemed happily married. No one suspected. None of his friends knew. But the people he worked with knew and judged him accordingly.

Sadly, he coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what he was, what he turned himself into.

How did I find out what my husband was up to for 35 years behind my back? Read Bedeviled on Amazon kindle to find out how he confessed the whole sad truth from the afterlife.

This is the strangest afterlife story you will ever read. A man with a divided soul, one in hell and one in heaven, came back to confess the truth and expose how the devil ruined his life. A must read for anyone struggling to reconcile sin and mental illness.
